Sound Portrait

Sound Portrait

A mosaic of voices. A memory for later.

When a parent passes away too soon, their children grow up with a question that does not always find an answer: who were they really?

The sound portrait is made for them — for the day when they are old enough to search, to want to know, to understand where they come from.

Transmission brings together the voices of those who knew this parent: close friends, colleagues, fellow students, family.

Each one offers a fragment: an anecdote, an image, a precise memory.

Sound portrait

Gathered separately and then assembled into a single edit, these testimonies compose a story told in many voices, rich with perspectives, memories and nuances.

Together, they form a living mosaic — intimate and irreplaceable.

Originally designed for children facing the loss of a parent, the sound portrait can also be created around a grandparent, a loved one, a mentor or anyone who has left a meaningful mark on a family or a community.

How it works

  1. 01

    Meeting

We talk about the person you wish to tell the story of: their path, their personality, the bonds they wove and what you would like to pass on of them.

  2. 02

    Identifying the participants

Together, we define the people whose voices will enrich this portrait.

  3. 03

    Guide & preparation

Transmission builds a bespoke narrative thread and provides each participant with a simple guide to record their memories, most often on their own.

  4. 04

    Editing & narrative shaping

The testimonies are gathered, edited and assembled to form a coherent story told in many voices.

  5. 05

    Delivery

The sound portrait is delivered to you as an object designed to be kept and passed on.

Throughout the project, Transmission accompanies each step with gentleness and care, so that what matters — but that we so often put off — can finally exist.

The number of voices, the length, the form: everything is built with you, according to your story and that of your family.

In their words
